Hello, I’m Ahmet Kayalı.
I am in my second year at Yaşar University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, but I am a fourth year student. So how did this happen; I want to talk about this a little bit.
After graduating from Yaşar University, Department of Architectural Restoration, I wanted to continue improving myself in the discipline of design and enrolled in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Yaşar University by Vertical Transfer. In order to transfer from a two-year undergraduate program to a four-year undergraduate program, you must take the Vertical Transfer Exam, get sufficient points, and have a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. By fulfilling these conditions, I had the chance to study at Yaşar University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design with 100% scholarship.
When you come to the department by Vertical Transfer, you will be adjusted, that is, the equivalence of your courses. The courses you took in your previous department are compared and matched with the courses in the department you have transferred vertically. All my courses in the Department of Architectural Restoration, which I graduated from, were counted towards adjustment, and when I transferred to the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, I was exempted from almost all courses, except for the studio courses that I had to take in the first two years, and I started my education from the 3rd grade.
Although this is my third university, I entered the design discipline with my Architectural Restoration education. However, the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design has completely changed my perspective on design. Beyond the basic principles of designing, he taught us to feel the spirit of the space, to recognize and define the user. It made me aware of how many different materials and products can come together in unity and harmony. Day by day, I develop myself more and learn more about this subject. This whole process increased my excitement for the profession even more and provided motivation for me to develop myself more in this regard. I admit that it is a department that requires a lot of motivation and concentration, but I think it is a fun section in terms of both the teachers and the course of the course. While the exhibitions, seminars, workshops and excursions organized by the department throughout the semester allow you to have an enjoyable learning process, we improve ourselves on current issues or problems thanks to our project topics that focus on different themes. Practical lessons taught in a different theme every year also help us to contribute and raise awareness about social responsibility. All these events and projects, also, pave the way for us to meet and meet many different designers.
I tried to briefly describe my experiences during my time at Yaşar University, I hope I can be an inspiration for your choices.
